Ramona Cameron Obituary

Ramona Wood Cameron (91) of Somerville, OH, died peacefully in her sleep on February 21, 2021, at Woodland Country Manor.

Ramona was born November 5, 1929, in Bridgewater, ME, to Frank and Gertie (Sharp) Wood. She attended primary school in Maine, secondary school in New Jersey, and started college in Florida before moving to California to live with sisters. Ramona transferred to UCLA where she met Robert A. Cameron, Jr., and they were married on March 29, 1952.  Ramona graduated with honors from UCLA in 1954.  After living in California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, she and Robert moved to Ohio in 2012 to be nearer children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ramona received Jesus Christ as her savior in 1951 and sought to honor Him with her life. She took pleasure in being a wife and mother and in church-related activities such as teaching Sunday school classes and leading Bible studies. She and Robert were active members of West Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Hopewell, VA, for over 30 years. Ramona had a flair for language and poetry, culminating in a book of limericks she wrote that continues to delight friends and family.

Ramona is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Robert, of Somerville, OH, son Stephen of Hopewell, VA, son Timothy (Susan), of Oxford, OH, son Andrew (Seema) of Pleasanton, CA, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Ted (Sally) Cameron of Redondo Beach, CA, brother-in-law Jack Lyons of Ocean Park, ME, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her five sisters.

A memorial and praise service will be scheduled later. Interment was at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
