Leon Schon Obituary

Leon Fred Schon, 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of family, hard work, integrity, and generosity.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Thelma Schon, and by his siblings, Phyllis Trentman, David Schon, and Barbara Greenwalt.

Leon is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joyce Schon, whose unwavering partnership helped build a life filled with love, purpose, and countless cherished memories. Together they raised four children: Teresa Osborne (Roger), Steven Schon (Kim), Gregory Schon (Dana), and Melissa Schon. Nothing brought Leon greater pride than watching his children grow into hardworking, accomplished adults who carried forward the values he worked so diligently to instill.

Leon began his career as an electrician working alongside his brother-in-law before taking a leap of faith and opening Leon Schon and Sons, LLC in 1979. The company became far more than a successful electrical contracting business—it became a reflection of Leon himself. Through his leadership, integrity, and commitment to excellence, he provided not only for his own family but also created opportunities for countless others. He mentored many young men entering the electrical trade, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to build successful careers and provide for their own families.

Known for his honesty, kindness, and quiet generosity, Leon freely gave of his time, wisdom, and resources without ever expecting anything in return. He possessed an incredible mind, always curious and eager to learn. Passionate about innovation, he spent countless hours researching advancements in the electrical industry and was always looking ahead to what was next.

Outside of work, Leon found joy on the golf course and on the water. An avid golfer and lifelong boater, he treasured the memories made with family and friends.

Although Leon was not one to express emotion with grand gestures, his love was unmistakable. He often communicated it through handwritten letters, thoughtful notes, and simple messages that spoke volumes. While he was immensely proud of his children, becoming "Grandpa" was one of life's greatest blessings, and his love for his grandchildren knew no bounds.

He leaves behind thirteen cherished grandchildren: Steven Gabbard, Kelly Osborne, Cory Osborne, Carissa Nickoson, Samantha Storie, Carly Schon, Kaitlyn Schon, Brandon Schon, Alec Schon, Megan Schon, Andrew Mitchell, Sydney Mitchell, and Braxton King. He was also blessed with six treasured great-grandchildren: Dylan Angel, Gracyn Gabbard, Lucas Osborne, Harlow Schon, Aislynn Schon, and Levi Storie.

If you knew Leon, you loved him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, an engaging personality, and a straightforward honesty that earned the respect of everyone who knew him. He possessed a quiet strength and a commanding presence and was deeply respected by his peers, employees, customers, and friends alike.

Leon lived a life defined by integrity, humility, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. His influence will continue to be seen in the lives he touched, the business he built, the people he mentored, and the family he loved so deeply.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
