Janet Gloeckler Obituary

Jan was born to Norma (nee Morganthal) and William Niehaus on January 12, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She's the beloved mother of Cindy Knott, Jenny (Scott) Vance and Lisa McLaughlin; cherished grandmother of Robert (Karman), Jessica, Christina (Josh), Megan (Liam), Nick and Rachel; treasured great grandmother of Jaxston, Della, Lux and Elliot; also survived by her brother, Ray, and many loving friends and family. She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 61 years, Robert Gloeckler, and her parents.

She and Robert were longtime members of Monfort Heights United Methodist Church where they worked diligently for 30 years taking care of the church gardens. They were faithful volunteers and servants of God. Jan loved the Smokey Mountains, all the fun times there with family and friends. She enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and men’s college basketball. Jan valued her time at Llanfair where she made many friends; she enjoyed dinner with friends, played Rummikub, bingo and Wii bowling.

A visitation for Jan will be held at Llanfair Retirement Community Chapel (1701 Llanfair Avenue) on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 10 am until time of service at 11 am. There will be a lunch reception and fellowship for all attending in the Llanfair Community Center next to the Chapel immediately following service. Interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
