Darlene was born in Cincinnati on July 1, 1940, to Lillian (nee Ruck) and Ernest Cassani, into a loving household that included her adoring aunts, Florence Ruck and Alvera Ruck. After graduation from Hughes High School, Darlene went to work for Cincinnati Bell. She took early retirement, and indulged her passion for her beloved horses, riding until she was 75. Throughout her life, she had a deep love for her pets, and was a fierce defender of abused and neglected animals. Darlene will be remembered for her quick humor, bright spirit, and her devotion to her family. She is survived by loving cousins Cheryl Devine, Diane Schloss, Terry Armor, Sandy Armor, Ronnie Armor and cherished close relative Nancy Armor, as well as many other dear family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and is now reunited with them and many other cherished family members. Darlene had an indomitable spirit and will be deeply missed.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. Donations can be made to ASPCA or Hospice of Cincinnati.
