Daniel Lee Frederick

Daniel Lee Frederick, age 86, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 5, 2026.

Born in Hamilton, Ohio, Dan was the son of the late Robert and Josephine (Grewe) Frederick. He lived a life defined by service to his country, devotion to his family, hard work, friendship, and a genuine love for life.

Dan proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from June 1959 to June 1963. During his military service, he excelled in athletics, competing in football, baseball, basketball, and track and field. His talent as a runner earned him consideration for the 1964 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team tryouts, an accomplishment he was very proud of.

Following his military service, Dan spent the majority of his working career at Mosler Safe in Hamilton, Ohio, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and the many friendships he developed with his coworkers.

Dan was a lifelong sports enthusiast and a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the AMVETS and the Eagles in Fairfield, Ohio. He also loved following the major horse races and was known for always betting on the gray horse. This was one of the many traditions and little things that brought him joy and brought smiles to those around him.

Dan had a gregarious personality and a gift for making people feel welcome. He could light up any room with his humor, kindness, and genuine friendship. He never met a stranger and leaves behind countless memories with all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dan was first married to Mildred “Millie” Frederick, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage and raised their children. He later married Charlene Frederick, who preceded him in death. In the
final two and a half years of his life, Dan and Millie rekindled their relationship. He made his home with Millie, whose loving care, companionship, and unwavering support brought him comfort and happiness during his final years. Their renewed relationship became a treasured chapter in both of their lives.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Frederick; his son, Deron Frederick; his brother, Robert Frederick; and his parents, Robert and Josephine (Grewe) Frederick.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Ed); daughter-in-law, Cindy; grandchildren Zachary, Grant, and Tye; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Charlie; his brother, Thomas Frederick (Patsy); his first wife, Mildred “Millie” Frederick; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Dan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His laughter, generous spirit, enduring friendships, and love of life will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude for Dan’s honorable service to his country and for the many friendships, kindnesses, and memories that enriched his life.
