Betty Jane (Kramer) Schlichter

Betty Jane (Kramer) Schlichter, born August 2, 1937, passed from this earth into the presence of her heavenly Father on June 25, 2026. 

She was a grace-filled and faithful woman of God who was loved and adored by her family and friends. Betty used her creativity to express her love for all those around her. She had a way of caring about the details, always making certain everyone felt special. Betty was a poet, an artist, a singer and a lover of God’s creation. She listened, snuggled, played and loved deeply.

In her younger married years, Betty and Wayne, her husband of 65 years, along with their four children, enjoyed farm life together, followed by sweet days with believers at Northern Hills Bible Chapel. In 1974, she and Wayne served the Lord in establishing Ross Bible Chapel with several other families. Betty played an integral part, teaching Sunday School, planning Bible camp, making the church’s calendar and hosting a women’s Bible study. She faithfully answered the call that God put on their hearts for 52 years. 

As a young girl, Betty walked to church on her own and later took her little brother with her. She was purposeful about pursuing her faith her whole life. She grew every day in ways that we can only aspire to, as she wanted to be current in her understanding of people and the concerns of their hearts.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Schlichter; her brother, Jim Kramer and sister, Diane Mangus; three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is survived by her four children, Denise Wilburn (Eddie), Becky Culbertson (Don), Frederick Schlichter (Karen), and Sonja Smith (Scott); 18 deeply loved grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends. She will be missed more than words can say. 

Visitation will be at Ross Bible Chapel, 2846 Hamilton-Cleves Road, July 2, 10:30. The service will begin at 12:00, followed by a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. After the cemetery we will gather for a luncheon at Colligan Lodge, Veterans Park, 20 New London Road.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Ross Bible Chapel, that will be gifted to missionaries who serve both locally and abroad.
