Becky Norman Obituary

Becky was born Rebecca Sue Gallagher in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan as the third of five children to Barbara (nee Evers) and James Gallagher. James and Barbara have preceded her in death.

James Gallagher, a career U. S. Coast Guard sailor, ultimately settling the family in Charlevoix, Michigan as he was assigned to the local Coast Guard Station.

Becky attended Charlevoix schools, graduating from Charlevoix High in 1968.

Becky married the love of her life, Wendell Norman, on March 26, 1976 and they settled in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Becky dedicated her professional live to the care and nurturing of others. This manifested itself by her working in Labor and Delivery at Little Traverse Hospital in Petoskey Michigan, prior to relocating to Cincinnati. Once in Cincinnati, she served as the Activities Director at Little Sisters of the Poor before going to work as a surgical tech in Labor and Delivery at Christ Hospital, which she retired from in 2009.

After retiring, she continued to help raise her grandchildren and enjoying the time she was able to spend with them. She also had a great love for animals and always kept a dog in her home. The latest of these – Tempest – was her constant companion.

She passed with her immediate family by her side on Saturday, May 27.

Becky leaves to cherish her memory her husband Wendell; her children David (April) Solorzano and Maureen Norman; siblings Kathleen Hunter, Callie (Justin) Folske, Kevin (Annelies) Gallagher, and Mark Gallagher; grandchildren Molina and Jolie Solorzano, Alijah Cephas and Ian, Mya, Ivan, and Dallas Anderson; greatgrandchild Elias Egipciaco; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the local chapter of the Cincinnati Humane Society.
