Roberta Maxine Crain (Wilson) passed away on February 26, surrounded by her family at the Knolls of Oxford. Roberta was known by her many titles, devoted daughter, respected and admired sister, loving and faithful wife, proud mother, affectionate grandmother, “GiGi” (great-grandmother) and true friend to all who had come to know her.
She held various clerical and staff positions at Miami University, Iowa State University, and the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. Following her retirement from Miami in 2008, she served as the volunteer Administrative Assistant in the Christian Cooperative Nursery School of the Oxford Presbyterian Church. She loved working with the children, many of whom when they would see her in various places around Oxford, would come up and give “Miss Roberta” a big smile and even bigger hug. In addition she worked on many Women’s Society committees, several nominating committees and served as an ordained Elder of the Oxford Presbyterian Church.
Roberta was born on July 5, 1944 to loving parents, Elmo D. Wilson and Fern M. Wilson (Hane) in Jefferson, Iowa. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Charles Crain; daughter Christine Davison and son Steven Crain; four grandchildren Elizabeth (Davison) Houk and her husband Robert Houk, Justin Davison, Logan Davison and Lily Davison; great grandchildren Heidi and Joseph Houk; and her sisters Carol Zwicky, Mary Jordan (Dennis) and Kathryn Funcke. A memorial service has been scheduled for March 17 at 4:00 pm at the Oxford Presbyterian Church, 101 North Main in Oxford, OH.
