Robert Hart

Hart, Robert (Bob), surrounded by his family, went to be with his Lord on 01/05/2018 at the age of 97 years. He was born at home in Ellsworth County, Kansas to Paul & Annie Dorothea Burmaster Hart on December, 6, 1920. He grew up in Ellsworth, KS and attended Ellsworth High School. His chosen profession was in the printing trade, starting at the Ellsworth Reporter.

He was sworn into the Navy as an “Avengers of Pearl Harbor” in a mass ceremony on June 7 1942. He served under this proud title in both the Atlantic & Pacific theaters, with the ranking of Petty Officer First Class. During the last two years of WWII he served in the South Pacific from New Guinea throughout the Philippines.

After WWII he returned to the printing trade and worked in Cleveland, OH, Junction City, KS and retired from a long tenure of 33 years with the Newspaper Printing Corporation in Nashville, TN, where he served as president of the union, negotiating contracts between the union and many printing companies.

He loved to travel with his family and wife and visited all 48 continental United States plus Hawaii & Guam. He along with his wife Judy, also traveled around the world visiting many countries.

He began his family when he married his beloved wife in Cleveland, OH on November 1, 1946. They were married for 68 years before her passing in 2015. Robert is survived by his son, James Paul Hart (Vicki) of Ohio, and his daughter Pamela Yvonne Snider (Steve) of Arkansas; five grandchildren, Michael Hart, Rebecca Hart Cash (Matthew), Blake Snider, Lisa Snider and Matthew Snider. He was preceded in death by wife, Jewel (Judy) Hart, parents: Paul & Annie and four sisters: Lillian, Jessie, Daisy and Alice and his first grandchild Burke Alan Henderson.

A visitation will be held at the Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford OH on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 5:00 pm until time of funeral service at 6:00 pm. There will be a graveside service at Union Cemetery in Dickson, TN January 13. 2018 at 1:00 pm with Military Honors.
