Trump, John M., son of the late John Alva and Bess Trump, brother of the late Ralph Trump, devoted husband of Joyce K. Trump (nee Marple), devoted father of Darryl Dwayne Trump (Lawrene) and Cheryl Lynn Scanlan (Kevin), dear grandfather of Michael and Katherine Scanlan, died Monday, Feb 12th after a brief illness at age 88. Resident of Oxford, formerly of Lockland, Ohio. He graduated from Lockland HS in 1947, having been voted class president and biggest tightwad. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1951. He began coaching and teaching at Stewart HS, but was immediately called to Air Force service in Germany during the Korean War. John married Joyce Aug 7th, 1954 and they moved to Oxford.
Dr. Trump had a long career in both public schools and higher education. He earned a master’s degree from Miami in 1956 and a doctorate at Indiana University in 1965. He served 12 years as teacher, coach and administrator in the Talawanda School District. As Talawanda’s first football coach he established a tradition of success with an undefeated untied season in his second year. He served several terms on the Talawanda Board of Education. He taught 28 years as a professor of education at Miami University.
He was Oxford Citizen of the Year runner up in 1971. In 1999 he and his wife Joyce were honored as Couple of the Years for their many years of community service to Oxford. They loved dancing together at Moonlight Gardens and elsewhere.

There will be memorial service for John at Oxford Presbyterian Church, 101 N. Main St. on Saturday, March 10 at 2PM with fellowship/reception to follow.
