Dennis H. "Denny" Davis Obituary

Dennis H. "Denny" Davis
Sunman, IN - Dennis H. "Denny" Davis, 75, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 with his loving wife, Debbie, and daughter, Kate (Chris Gough) beside him. Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by his brothers Gary (Patti) and Ron (Bonny) & their families. Denny grew up on a farm in New Burlington. He learned to drive tractors and equipment very early in life and was one of the most mechanically inclined people you'd ever meet. He painted a house for his first car at age 15. He had a love of cars all his life. He was a lifetime member of the Cincinnati Corvette Club and lived and breathed Corvettes. He liked nothing better than autocrossing and shooting the breeze with his fellow enthusiasts. He preferred to do all the work on his Corvettes himself. And regularly was called upon to help others with their cars. Once asked to diagnose a car problem while someone held the phone in the engine compartment so that he could hear the problem. He also was a member of the Hilltoppers Car Club and loved going to shows and cruise-ins. Denny held many jobs over his life. One of his first was at the pharmacy in Mt. Healthy where he famously lost that job after telling Mrs. Parker (the boss) that she could stick her peach ice cream somewhere. He went on to work in printing, started his own auto care business, then took over his Dad's excavating business before become a Bobcat salesman. Denny always had a love of animals. And we are sure he was greeted at the rainbow bridge by many Chows and his faithful German Shepherd. He and Debbie were blessed to be snowbirds for several years and he enjoyed sitting in front of the pond watching for birds, turtles and alligators. We imagine that if there are things to be fixed in Heaven that Denny has already gotten to that. Hopefully there will be a good supply of duct tape and PVC pipe there. He always believed anything could be fixed with those items. Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2nd from 4-6:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1553 Kinney Avenue, Mt. Healthy with a Memorial Service to follow. Friends and family will gather that evening at the Coffee Peddlar, 112 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, OH from 7:30-9:30 pm. As we mourn his passing we offer some advice. Hug your loved ones everyday and tell them you love them. Wear that new shirt or dress now. Don't wait for tomorrow. Don't have regrets. And don't forget those people who are caregivers in your life. They need your support. We thank the friends and family who have been there day in and day out for us. We appreciate you more than you can know. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association.
